With wide expertise in strategic planning, business development, market research, management and finance, Lou Ann Sabatier has spent thirty years in publishing. An executive with Clarity Media Group since its inception in 2004, Steve Sparks is a newspaper industry veteran who became Director of Auditing with Knight-Ridder Newspapers in 1979. Prior to that he was a CPA with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. His career has included work in the financial, distribution, news, advertising and digital disciplines, and has included assignments at the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Seattle Times, the Denver Post and the San Francisco Examiner. Since 2012 he has had broad operational responsibilities at the Washington Examiner.
Kathy H. Schaffhauser, CPA, comes to MediaDC from the Washington Newspaper Publishing Group, where she served as Chief Financial Officer from 2007 to 2013. Prior to that she was Chief Financial Officer of McArdle Printing Company, whose clients included the Bureau of National Affairs, National Journal and Congressional Quarterly. She has also worked as Business Controller for Elsevier’s F-D-C Reports, home of The Pink Sheet, the pharmaceutical industry’s go-to source for industry news and business developments.
As Chief Revenue Officer for MediaDC, Tom Fowler draws on more than 25 years of success in building and directing media properties in the energy, finance, health care, and hospitality/travel sectors. Some of the media properties he has worked for in the past are Disney, PennWell, Elsevier, Hearst, and Thomson Media. He has led numerous acquisition and turnaround teams, creating profitability through varied revenue opportunities. With expertise in multi-platform revenue generation, Fowler is at the forefront of the transitioning media industry. His international expertise includes launching and managing conferences and events around the globe. A graduate of Yale University with a degree in economics, Fowler has an MBA from Harvard University.
An accomplished senior executive in the field of communications, Grace Paine Terzian has over twenty-five years of experience in directing public relations, marketing, events, publications, websites, social media, development and operations.
Most recently she was Vice President for Communications at Hudson Institute in Washington, DC. In addition to serving as Executive Director of the Allergy and Asthma Network, she has worked at a variety of publications, including Architectural Digest, The New Republic and the Chronicle of Higher Education. At the Independent Women’s Forum, where she was Senior Vice President, she also served as Publisher of The Women’s Quarterly.
