Daily Caller’s Alex Pappas Joins Washington Examiner
Washington Examiner is excited to announce the hiring of Alex Pappas as Breaking News Editor.
In his new position, Pappas will help direct and edit breaking news coverage at the news desk. He will also continue to report and write on politics, both online and in the magazine.
His first day at Washington Examiner will be Monday, November 14th.
Previously, he was Senior Political Reporter for The Daily Caller, where he covered national politics.
Pappas, who started at The Daily Caller before its 2010 launch, reported from battleground states during the past four election cycles, and also on the 2016 debates and conventions. He has covered Congress from Capitol Hill and moderated a congressional debate of Republican and Democratic candidates in 2013. Pappas has also analyzed politics on radio and television shows across the country, including on Fox News, CNBC and Fox Business.
Pappas also previously worked for local newspapers, including a stint in 2011 covering Prince Georges County, Md. for the Washington Examiner. A graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., Pappas served as editor of The Sewanee Purple and worked internships at NBC’s Meet the Press and at the White House.
“I’m honored to join the top-notch group of journalists at the Washington Examiner and look forward to contributing to their coverage of news and politics,” Pappas said. “I’ve always admired the Examiner’s journalism and am eager to get started.”
Washington Examiner’s editorial director, Hugo Gurdon, said: “Alex is a superb political journalist with fine news judgment, and he’s a great fit for us as we strengthen and accelerate our coverage of big and breaking stories. Alex is one of several new hires coming to Washington Examiner in the next few months, and he’s an excellent one.”
