FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
July 25, 2017
Washington Examiner is building up its White House reporting team with the hire of Steven Nelson from US News & World Report, and the return of Gabby Morrongiello from the New York Post. They will work alongside Sarah Westwood, and increase the Washington Examiner’s team to three reporters covering the Trump White House.
Nelson starts Monday, July 31st, and Morrongiello will arrive a week later, on August 7.
Nelson, who has been US News’s most-read reporter for the past five years, said: “I’m thrilled to join a great team at the Washington Examiner, where I will cover one of the most important and exciting beats that any political reporter could want. I look forward to bringing readers the latest developments from the briefing room and beyond.”
Morrongiello, who has been Washington bureau chief for the New York Post for the past three months, said, “It’s great to be going back to the Washington Examiner newsroom, which I regard almost as family. There is nowhere I would rather be to cover this administration.”
Welcoming Nelson and Morrongiello, Washington Examiner Editorial Director Hugo Gurdon said, “News sense is like a sixth sense — not many people really have it. But Steve Nelson and Gabby Morrongiello both do, and have demonstrated consistent ability to spot and report stories readers find compelling. We’re in yet another expansion phase and I’m delighted that Steve and Gabby are going to be with us as we move up to the next level.”
In coming weeks, more high-level reporters will be joining the Washington Examiner as it expands and deepens its reach.
